Safetynet and Ana Liffey Drug Project are hiring a Relief Worker (Polish speaking)

Title of Post: Relief worker for Safetynet and Ana Liffey Drug Project Eastern European Primary Healthcare Initiative
Location: Dublin city centre
Duration: 6 months renewable
Hours of Work: 20 hours per week, flexible between 8 am and 6pm Monday to Friday.

Ana Liffey Drug Project and Safetynet are working together to provide a fixed term street outreach project in Dublin’s Inner City. The Safetynet and Ana Liffey Drug Project Eastern European Primary Healthcare Initiative aims to engage with previously non-engaged individuals in a primary health care capacity. It is imagined that this cohort will have a range of ancillary issues, including alcohol and/or drug issues, accommodation issues, and benefits and entitlements issues.
The role of the relief worker will be to carry out street outreach with a volunteer /intern, engage with Eastern European individuals who have health needs and are not currently engaged in medical care and refer them to appropriate services. 

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • To carry out street outreach in line with Ana Liffey Drug Projects outreach policy
  • To engage with Eastern European individuals who are in need of medical care and have difficulty accessing it
  • To refer these individuals to appropriate medical and social care providers
  • To support these individuals to get to these services and engage effectively
  • To collect data and assist in compiling reports as directed by the Team Leader
  • To engage in supervision provided by the Team Leader

Essential criteria:

  • Relevant qualification
  • Fluent Polish speaker
  • At least 2 years’ experience in working with people with substance use issues and /or marginalized groups
  • Essential competencies: communication skills, commitment to providing the highest level of service, professionalism, respect for others.
