Volunteer

The Poole Volunteer Programme

The Poole Volunteer Programme is named in honour of our former chairperson and long-time volunteer Dr. David Poole.

The Poole Volunteer Program is an important part of the organisation. Volunteers contribute to all areas of our work, providing additionality and added value across the organisation.  If you’re interested in our work and would like to volunteer, we’d like to hear from you. Please fill in the Volunteer Application Form and return the completed form to office@aldp.ie. You may also attach your CV if you wish. We believe that volunteers should gain from the experience of working with us, whatever the area. If you join our team you will be supporting us in our work. In return, you will get personal supervision and tailored support from a named staff member, as well as getting to participate in team events and training days. Please note that Garda Vetting is required for anyone wishing to work directly with people who use our services.

The Poole Volunteer Handbook

The Poole Volunteer Handbook provides guidance for new volunteers working with the Ana Liffey. It can be read here.

Student Placement Opportunities

ALDP is committed to providing quality student placements. Students have the opportunity to gain new skills in a range of areas. If you’re interested in working in direct services, you can learn about drug use and addiction, key working and case management, assertive outreach, group work, needle and syringe programs, medical services and assessment, referral and treatment practices. If you’re interested in our office based work, you can learn about drug policy in both domestic and international contexts and the administration and management of charities. We endeavour to ensure that your experience as a student is a good one. We want you to feel valued and that you have learned and benefited from your experience. For that reason, we work very hard to match each student with the right student opportunity. Sometimes we have openings for students right away, other times it takes a bit longer to find just the right opportunity. If you are interested in completing your student placement with the Ana Liffey Drug Project, please fill out the Student Application Form and return the completed form to office@aldp.ie. Please note that we get more requests than we can fill and would recommend applying as far in advance as possible.
