In September 2010 ALDP agreed to provide interim needle exchange support in Drogheda for the Louth Community Drug and Alcohol Team, soon after in November 2010 we were approached by Cavan Drug Awareness to provide a similar service, In February of 2011 ALDP secured funding from the North East Regional Drugs Task Force to provide a needle exchange across the North Eastern region initially targeting the Rapid Area towns Drogheda, Cavan, Navan and Dundalk. The primary aim of these services is to provide needle exchange and harm reduction interventions in partnership with local services where possible.
